What is dyslipidemia and why is it important?
Dyslipidemia refers to a disorder of lipid metabolism in which blood lipids – especially LDL cholesterol – are persistently elevated. Since elevated cholesterol levels usually cause no symptoms, they often remain undetected for years, while deposits can build up in the artery walls.
Diagnostics:
A blood test reveals LDL, HDL, and total cholesterol levels, as well as triglycerides. Together with other risk factors such as blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, and family history, we calculate your individual risk and set a personal LDL target value.
Treatment:
The therapy usually combines lifestyle adjustments with, if necessary, modern medications such as statins or newer lipid-lowering agents.
Progress monitoring:
We monitor your values regularly and adjust the therapy as needed.
