Heart-healthy diet

A balanced diet is a key component of cardiovascular prevention and supports the treatment of high blood pressure, elevated blood lipids, diabetes and other risk factors.

Individual consultation

Since each patient has different risk factors, we recommend individual nutritional counseling as part of cardiological care.

Mediterranean diet as a basis

A Mediterranean diet is considered particularly heart-protective. It is based on plenty of vegetables, fruit, legumes, whole grain products, nuts, and high-quality vegetable oils such as olive oil.

Choose fats consciously

Saturated fats (e.g., in fatty meats, sausages, and highly processed foods) should be reduced. Unsaturated fatty acids from fish, nuts, and vegetable oils are preferable.

Reduce salt and sugar

High salt and sugar consumption can contribute to high blood pressure and metabolic disorders. Fresh, unprocessed foods help control intake.

Sufficient fiber

A diet rich in fiber supports cholesterol metabolism and digestion. This includes whole grain products, vegetables, legumes, and fruit.

Fish instead of meat

Regular consumption of seafood provides valuable omega-3 fatty acids, which have anti-inflammatory effects and can protect the heart.

Liquid and alcohol

Drinking enough water or unsweetened tea is important. Alcohol should only be consumed in very moderate amounts or avoided as much as possible.

Weight and movement

A heart-healthy diet works best in combination with regular exercise and a stable body weight.
