Typically 24 to 48 hours. During this time, you can continue your normal daily routine; you should only avoid showering or bathing.

Do I need a referral from my family doctor for an appointment at LuxHeart?

No. In Luxembourg, a doctor's referral is not required to visit a specialist.

Are the examinations covered by the health insurance (CNS)?

Basic cardiological diagnostics are usually partially reimbursed by the CNS; adults typically receive around 88% of the costs back. We would be happy to discuss the details with you at your appointment.

How often should I have a cardiological check-up?

What is the procedure for a cardiological examination?

Depending on the symptoms and suspicion, we use different non-invasive procedures:

Resting ECG:
It measures the electrical activity of the heart at rest. The examination is painless, takes only a few minutes, and provides initial indications of arrhythmias, circulatory disorders, or structural changes.

Stress echocardiography/exercise ECG:
They cycle on a bicycle or treadmill at gradually increasing intensity while their heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG are continuously monitored. This procedure shows how the heart reacts under exertion and is particularly important when coronary artery disease is suspected.

Long-term ECG (Holter monitoring):
A small, portable device records your heart rhythm over 24 to 48 hours during everyday life. This allows for the detection of rhythm disturbances that only occur occasionally.

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM):
A device measures your blood pressure at regular intervals over a 24-hour period, including at night. Because high blood pressure often causes no symptoms, it is considered one of the most important, yet most frequently overlooked, risk factors for heart attack and stroke.

Preparation:

No special preparation is needed for a resting ECG.
Please bring comfortable clothing and sports shoes for the stress ECG.
For long-term ECG and long-term blood pressure monitoring, we will explain how to use the device on site.

Results:
We usually discuss the findings of the basic diagnostic tests with you on the same day.
